The 6th CADTM Europe 2019 Summer University will be held at La Marlagne (Wépion / Namur - Belgium) from 5 to 8 September 2019.
As it is the main event organized by CADTM Europe, the summer university offers an opportunity to review the major developments that earmarked the past year. In this new edition we propose to go back onto ongoing mobilizations all over the world: the Yellow Vest movement, the international feminist movement, the ‘Youth for Climate’ movement as well as uprisings in Algeria and elsewhere.
We have noticed that the feminist movement is both massive and transversal: all over the world women stand up, expose and respond to sexism, to all forms of patriarchal violence, to the discriminations they are the victims of, and to the financialization of their lives. Therefore a feminist note will be present within each route, including a women-only workshop! We won’t say more, you’ll find out details in the final programme.
In connection with these mobilizations and through various routes, we will touch upon issues that are close to the CADTM’s concern: the Greek debt, the vulture funds, the right to housing, privatization of banks in Europe, debts in the South, etc. In the same vein, we will discuss the European political situation (after this year’s elections) and how citizen debt auditing can be implemented.
At the end of each day, you will be entertaining with shows and songs and dancing.
